ONYCHOMYCOSIS LASER TREATMENT IN MONTREAL

WHAT IS ONYCHOMYCOSIS?

Onychomycosis is a fungal nail infection caused by a fungus known as a dermatophyte. It is most commonly present on the toenails.
There are multiple treatments available such as topical creams, oral medications, and debridement, but the efficacy is not great, and a long treatment duration is required for results.

HOW IS THE LASER EFFCIENT IN TREATING ONYCHOMYCOSIS?

The advanced laser that Clini-Derma offers is beneficial for any individual of any skin type that has onychomycosis. The main objective of the laser is the ablation of the fungus through the nail by using a specific wavelength based on the skin type and severity of the infection. The laser won’t cause any damage to the nail or the surrounding skin.
Multiple passes are delivered on each nail based on the patient’s tolerance during each treatment in order to accurately damage the fungus.
The patients will receive quick, safe treatments with minimal discomfort.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY?

The number of sessions depends necessary depends on the severity of the onychomycosis; however the average number of treatments is within 3-6 with an interval between sessions of 4-6 weeks.
Due to the slow nail growth, the results may not be noticeable for the first 3 months.

In order to have better results, patients need to follow a post treatment guideline such as wearing clean shoes/socks after treatment and maintaining a clean environment at their house. This information will be provided during the consultation.
