LASER TREATMENT FOR TATTOO REMOVAL IN MONTREAL

LASER TREATMENT FOR TATTOO REMOVAL IN MONTREAL

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

Have you had a tattoo done and now are no longer satisfied with it? Perhaps it doesn’t represent you or has lost its significance to you, and you would like to remove it or replace it ?

At Clini-Derma, we are able to achieve tattoo removal with our advanced PicoWay® Laser.
We ensure patients that they will have the best tattoo removal experience due to our trained professionals that offer excellent safety patient-based care.

All treatments are done under the supervision of our dermatologist, Dr. Joseph Doumit.

HOW DOES THE LASER HAIR REMOVAL TREATMENT WORK?

The purpose of the treatment is to selectively treat the hair follicle without causing thermal damage to the surrounding tissue, the epidermis. Laser light is absorbed by melanin (the pigment that gives colour to human skin and hair), which is the target in hair. The light is converted to heat. Heat damages the bulge and bulb disabling the hair structure.

When treating patients for hair removal, the epidermis must be protected by some type of cooling. All of our advanced laser hair removal systems offer a Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) which gives the best protection to the epidermis while the treatment is done , resulting in a very comfortable procedure.

HOW DOES THE LASER TATTOO REMOVAL TREATMENT WORK?

PicoWay® system is a Picosecond 1064/532nm laser designed for the treatment of tattoo removal. The 1064 nm and 532 nm wavelengths are selectively absorbed by the targeted pigment with minimal effect on the surrounding tissue. The 1064nm wavelength is indicated for black, brown, green, blue and purple tattoo colors. The 532 nm wavelength is indicated for red, yellow, and orange colors.

Tattoo pigments vary in composition depending on the color of the tattoo and its origin (amateur, professional, or traumatic) which can affect the number of treatments needed to achieve the best results.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

Tattoo treatment provides the most benefit to those patients with darker and denser pigmented tattoos. Different colored tattoo pigments may respond at different rates so that some colored areas may require more treatments than others. To achieve optimal benefit, multiple treatments may be necessary about 2-8 weeks apart. There may be discomfort/pain resulting from the treatment. A white-gray discoloration of the treatment area may appear immediately following treatment and last for a few minutes to a few days. This may be replaced with erythema or purpura which may persist for several days. A scab may form at the treatment area and drop off in 7-10 days. It may be helpful to use Petroleum jelly (such as Aquaphor® or Vaseline®) ointment on the treated area and to cover it with a dressing for a few days after PicoWay system laser therapy. This will protect the skin from abrasions and infections, which are also potential sources of scar formation.

Tattoo removal treatment has minimal post treatment care. Patients may return to normal activities after treatment.

CAN THE TREATED AREA BE RE-TATTOED?

Yes, definitely. After the healing process has been completed with the previous tattoo removal, a new tattoo can be done.
At Clini-Derma we also offer tattoo eyebrow removal, which can be re-done based on patients needs after the area had healed.
