With time, as your skin ages, collagen production slows down and elastin in your skin starts to become lax causing the appearance of Fine Lines and Wrinkles. In addition, less volume becomes apparent in the face also causing fine lines, deep lines & wrinkles. Many other factors such as genetics, diet, sun exposure and even smoking can also have a profound effect on the aging of your face.
The laser works by stimulating the production of the body’s own collagen, thereby creating a tightening and smoothing of the skin. The laser light that is emitted is absorbed by the water in the skin, leaving very little thermal damage to the skin.
The Laser Skin Rejuvenation is designed to remove Fine Lines & Wrinkles and moderately Deep Lines & Wrinkles on the face. With the settings on the Laser minimised to perform a superficial skin rejuvenation it can make the treatment a walk in-walk out procedure for superficial fine lines and wrinkles. For Deep Lines & Wrinkles the settings on the Laser can be maximised, however the recovery time is longer, but generally the results are better.
The laser treatment can be regional or full face. Common regional areas for treatment are: around the eyes (peri-ocular) and around the mouth (peri- oral). It is particularly useful for the vertical lines on the top lip.
Laser treatment for fine lines and wrinkles is an excellent modality that is safe, accurate and a less invasive method for patients looking to restore their skin to a smoother and more youthful looking appearance without undergoing surgery. It is also an excellent alternative for patients not interested in Botox and/or dermal fillers.
Following the procedure, the treated areas are covered with a topical soothing ointment for the first 5-6 days and make-up and sunscreen can be worn after the first week. This is encouraged as it enhances the result, covers the initial redness and provides protection from the sun. Generally the first stage of recovery is complete within 7 days. Patients are able to apply makeup and return to normal activities at this stage.
Over the next few weeks your fresh, new, pink skin will fade to a normal tone revealing softer, smoother, younger skin.
